Volunteer

Hellyer Velodrome is run by volunteers and needs your help to run smoothly. There are many ways you can get involved. Talk to the supervisor running your session or contact a member of the Board of Directors for more information.

Here are some other ways to pitch in:

  • Assist your session supervisor. Supervisors at training sessions need to check in riders, help with rental bikes, keep an eye out for safety issues and answer rider questions – on top of getting in their own workouts. Find your supervisor and offer to assist.

  • Become a supervisor. You need to be an experienced racer and you must get first aid certification, and then you can open the track and run training sessions.

  • Become a promoter. These are the people who put on races. This can be a great way to showcase your club or team and it is easy. The Board has a manual to help new promoters get started.

  • Attend a Board meeting. The Board of Directors meets monthly to discuss current events at the track, issues and long-term projects. Meetings are open to the public.

  • Join the Board. Elections are held every fall and the NCVA is always looking for people to take on new projects at the track.

  • Become a sponsor. Promote your club or business by buying one or more of the vinyl signs around the perimeter of the track.

  • Donate. Donations to the NVCA are tax-deductible and greatly appreciated.
